Bike2Benefits - an exciting new program of 494 Commuter Services
Get to work under your own power! Bike to work at least once per week for eight weeks. Or, if you live too far to bike all the way, bike to a bus stop. It's just as healthy!
Choose 8 consecutive weeks between now and December 31, 2008. In case of bad weather, you may make up missed activity in subsequent weeks.
Why should you participate? For your health!
- Every 30 minutes that a person spends in a car translates into a 3 percent greater chance of being obese.
- Did you know that just 3 hours of biking per week can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by 50 percent?
When you enroll you will receive:
- Brochure full of helpful tips for successful bike commuting
- Coupons to redeem at Penn Cycle & Fitness
- A CD of biking tips - including how to change a flat tire
- Free bike route planning - by request (only available to individuals not currently riding a bike to work)
- Free transit itinerary and two single ride tickets - by request
- Free bike map appropriate to your commute
Adults who live or work in Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka, Plymouth, or Richfield are eligible to participate. There is no fee.
Getting started is easy. Just follow these steps.
- Complete the required forms (see bottom of page).
- Return the forms to 494 Commuter Services by fax or mail.
- Receive your packet of goodies in the mail.
- Expect a phone call or email to confirm your enrollment and make sure you have all the resources and encouragement you need to get going and keep going!
